As the second phase of election is over in Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand. The polling is in 69 seats in Uttrakhand and 67 constituency seats across 11 districts in Uttar Pradesh. In today’s election total 721 candidates from 11 district are in contention, out of which just 39 are women and a transgender.
The main constituencies polling today include Bijnor, Moradabad, Lakhimpur Kheri among others in Uttar Pradesh as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati campaigned extensively for this phase election in state.
In Uttrakhand 68% votes till 5 PM and 60% votes in Uttar Pradesh were casted till 4 PM. This votes is reported 53 % in Uttrakhand till 3 PM and in Uttar Pradesh this figure is at 54.27 % till 3 PM . All these records are of second phase of polling that held today in UP and UK.
In hilly area of Uttarakhand, around 74.20 lakh voters cast thier precious votes to decide the fate of 628 candidates as 69 out of 70 assembly constituencies spread over 13 districts.
Uttar Pradesh is abbreviated as UP which means “up” but everything slips down in todays election while in uttrakhand all the stakes are high for both the rulling parties congress as well as Bhartiya janata party. And In UP the Smajwadi party gets much importance than congress and BJP.
People seems to be in different mood in both constituencies a voter from aminabad village of Bijnor district boycotted from today’s election due to lack of development issues. While on the other hand Baba Ramdev cast his vote in uttrakhand. Congress leader indira Hridayesh cast her vote at booth number 17 in Haldwani and she is contesting against BSP member S Ahmed and BJP JPS reptula.
Voting process get started at 7 am but only 25% voters cast their votes till afternoon on 67 assembly seats. And it was 39 % in Uttrakhand which means this people are taking more interest in election in Uttrakhand than in Uttar Pradesh. Somewhere the voting process get halted for sometime get resumed as a minor glitch in EVM machine halted the voting process at Badaun Sadar constituency at booth number 183.
A clash also occurred between the supporters of Azam Khan and BSP candidate Doctor Tavnir at Raza degree collage, Rampur. Due to polling the major security arrangements are made at major booth like in Moradabad polling at booth number 265.
115 years old Grandfather of Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s Zurriyat Hussain Kazmi casts his Vote in Bareilly. Former Union Minister and Congress members Tilhar, Jitin Prasada casted their votes in Shahjahanpur district also the Finance minister Santosh Gangwar casts his vote at polling booth in Bareilly along with his wife Saubhagya Gangwar. Satish Chandra who is of 72 years old was awarded a certificate for being the first voter at the booth
While the Samajwadi Party seeks to retain the power in the state albeit with the Congress this time, the BSP and BJP hope to regain power in the state after 5 and 13 years respectively. Unemployment is as big a problem as annual floods in the Rohilkhand districts Shahjehanpur, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Badaun and Rampur and peoples are expecting solution from next government.
As per the scheduled time Voting for the second phase has came to an end at 5:00 pm.. However, those who joined the queue at 4:59 pm will be allowed to cast their vote.
In uttrakhand congress and BJP locked a straight contest on most of the seats but some independent fray disappointed the saffron party somewhere and upset congress and BJP in their calculations.
For this phase of election a total of 30,000 security staff including 105 companies of central armed police force, 25 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary from Uttarakhand police and the home guards have been deployed. For the first time voter verified paper audit trail machines will be used in these elections in Uttarakhand.
All the ruling parties’ keeps allegating each other and BJP has been attacking opposition parties in both cites over the matter of corruption. Surgical strike and demonetization is the major topic raised by PM Modi in his rallies in both States.
