Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt filed a complaint on Wednesday against unknown person after receiving a extortion phone call from a man , who demanded 50 lakh rupees from Alia Bhatt and threatened to kill Alia Bhatt and his wife soni Razdan, if he failed to meet the demand.
Mahesh Bhatt tweeted about the call and felt gratitude to the police for catching the responsible persons, ANI reported.
Fearing about his family safety Mahesh Bhatt filed a complaint at juhu police station under section 387, the call was first made on 26 Feb and caller provides his bank account details to transfer money. But it took just 12 hours that Mahesh Bhatt logged a complaint about receiving repeated calls city crime branch anti-extortion cell arrested a 24 years old jobless man from Lucknow on Thursday.
The accused Sandeep sahu posted as gangster Babloo srivastava threatened to kill Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter and his wife if he failed to pay 50 lakh. In a message Shau asked Bhatt to deposit sum in bank account with Lucknow address. It gave official a lead and they took help of UP police special task force to track him. Police bring sahu to Mumbai on Friday.
India today reported the sahu who had claimed to be the leader of Uttar Pradesh send various text and whatsapp messages to him and threatened him also to fire several rounds of bullets at alia Bhatt and his wife Razdan. Earlier In November 2014, a group of 13 people were arrested who were planning to kill Mahesh Bhatt and his family. The police official said,” Sahu has planned this offensive task to repay 6 lakh Rupees that he had borrowed from one of his relative to set up a shoe shop. He starts his shop but after sometime he had to close shop as he incurring several big losses. After that in 2016, he came to Mumbai in a hope to become an actor but his dream did not materialize at that time.”
Sahu also stated that he planned this task when his relatives began to harass him for money on returning back to Lucknow three months ago. After that he holds Bhatt’s contact and impersonates srivastava, who is once Dawood’s aide and is in jail, anti extortion cell officer said.
