On Saturday Varanasi is going to be the witness of a show strength as Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi is all set for a road show in Prime Minister’s constituency. This roadshow is a clash between the Narendra Modi and Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi party on the same day before the seventh and final phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh on March 8.
The roadshow of Samajwadi-congress alliance in the state is scheduled to start from Kachehri chauraha and will culminate at the ‘Girjaghar chauraha’ which is close to Kashi Vishwanath and Kaal Bhairav temples. This roadshow will pass through Nadesar, Doshipura, Peeli Kothi, Chaukaghat, Gol Ganj, Maidagin, Chauk and Godaulia.
This alliance previously holds a roadshow in Lucknow and Agra. And on today’s clash SP leader accused Narendra Modi of trying to sabotage their roadshow , claiming that he was afraid of losing the elections. On the other hand PM Modi begins his roadshow in Varanasi from the gate of BHU. Later he will address the rally in janakpur and various other places. He is also scheduled to offer prayers at Kashi vishwanath Temple and kaal bhairav temple.
BSP Chief Mayawati is also scheduled to address a rally in Varanasi district on the outskirts around Rohaniya. The sixth phase of polling is taking place in the state on Saturday. The result of elections will declared on March 11.
The road show was postponed twice last month and now being held with two more days to go for election campaigning in the final seventh phase of assembly poll. The route of 10 km is finalised by district administration with a special protection group to provide protection to Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi.
The SP congress alliance hopes to cause an upset in 3 out of the 5 assembly segments falling under Varanasi lok Sabha constituency which is currently held by BJP. Two parties fighting separately in 2012 , had together polled more votes than BJP as the congress finishing as the runner up in South Varanasi and Varanasi cantt.
During the election Campaign in Mirzapur, PM Modi said BJP’s rivals SP, BSP and Congress will get electric shocks when the results of UP assembly elections are announced.
Hours after Prime Minister’s “electric shock” jibe, Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav said he had not asked him to touch a wire and would never say anything like that.
