Bharatiya Janata Party won the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday and received the historic mandate in the state. This win will benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi in strengthening its domination in the Indian politics as this win will benefit them in making big numbers in the Rajya Sabha where the party is not in the majority. This landmark win for the BJP came as a big shock for the opponent parties like Samajwadi-Congress alliance and Bahujan Samajwadi Party. It is the biggest win by any political party in the Uttar Pradesh elections since Indira Gandhi led Congress to 309 seats in 1980 earlier than the state was divided. The PM Modi’s BJP outshines every regional party of the Uttar Pradesh by bagging 325 seats in the state, followed by SP-Congress alliance with 54 seats and terminated Mayawati’s BSP who just able to bag 19 seats in the state.

From PM Modi’s charismatic campaign to Amit Shah’s proper planning, there are many reasons that helped the Bharatiya Janata Party win the biggest ever victory in the Uttar Pradesh. This clearly shows that the wave of PM Modi is still intact indeed. The biggest UP win may help PM Modi in preparing the tone for a second term in the national elections in 2019. We will discuss some of the key points that benefited the Bharatiya Janata Party in winning the historical mandate in the Uttar Pradesh.

  1. BJP shined in Muslim Area strongholds

The biggest setback yesterday came for the SP-Congress alliance and BSP was that they are losing their base vote to the Bharatiya Janata Party. PM Modi’s BJP has always been known as a Hindu party and it is also believed that the Muslim voters never vote for the saffron party, but this election in UP changed the image of the Bharatiya Janata Party. From all the constituencies of riot-hit Muzaffarnagar to Deoband in Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, and Bareilly, which are dominated by the Muslim voters, has been swept by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP gave many reasons to cry to Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav as the saffron party secured enormous victories in the Muslim dominated areas, which were used to be enjoyed by the parties like the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party.

There’s one great thing that came for the PM Modi is that their party is winning the faith of the Muslims. It is great news for the PM Modi’s BJP as Muslim voters have cast their vote in the favor of the saffron party, which has always been accused of marginalizing the minorities by the opposition parties. The interesting thing was that the BJP did not give even a single ticket to the Muslim candidate in the Uttar Pradesh election yet it won the faith from the Muslim voters massively.

  1. The Triple Talaq factor helped BJP in winning the Muslim Women’s votes

The Bharatiya Janata Party won the Deoband assembly seat where 71 percent populations are of Muslim voters, which clearly shows that this time Muslims supported BJP unconditionally. There are many factors that helped BJP’s win with such a mandate in Uttar Pradesh and especially in the Muslim dominated areas, one of them in ‘Triple Talaq. The strategic move of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise the issue of triple talaq seems like helped the party in a big manner. PM Modi also said that the Constitutional rights of the Muslim women will always be protected. The triple talaq practice has been criticized for being biased towards the Muslim women. In the Triple talaq practice, the marriage is dissolved when the Muslim husbands say ‘talaq’ thrice to their wives.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the triple talaq practice and came into the support for the Muslim women who have to suffer this. Sharing the thoughts on ‘Triple talaq’ the PM Modi said: “Is it fair for a man to say talaq thrice over the phone and a Muslim woman’s life to be ruined? The government will ensure that the constitutional rights of Muslim women are protected. This issue shouldn’t be politicized. There are some political parties which are indulging in vote bank politics and don’t want Muslim women to get their natural rights.”  This stand by the PM Modi helped strongly the saffron party in the UP elections.

  1. Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati haven’t fought the elections from any seat

Yesterday, the former CM of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat lost his both seats, one from Haridwar (rural) and one from Kichcha assembly seat came as shocking news for everyone. The Akhilesh Yadav and BSP’s supremo Mayawati haven’t fought the Uttar Pradesh election may be because they were not sure that they are going to win the UP. The shocking defeat in the Uttar Pradesh elections to the SP-Congress and BSP is a sign that the Modi wave is still intact. It is the high time for the Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati to introspect why they have lost the elections so badly.

  1. The Politics on the basis of religion is rejected by the UP Voters

The BSP’s supremo Mayawati gave 100 tickets to the Muslim voters in this assembly election out of 403 seats, and after the result, the Mayawati’s party gets restricted to the 19 seats in the Uttar Pradesh only. It clearly shows that the politics on the basis of religion has been rejected by the voters of the Uttar Pradesh. They all want development in the state, then the divisive politics of Hindu-Muslim.  Mayawati always had a stronghold on Dalit and Muslim voters, but this time she has been rejected by the voters roughly. It is the time for the Mayawati to introspect her party’s mistakes and why the party failed so shoddily in the assembly election.

  1. Mayawati is shedding tears of her dreadful defeat on ‘Tampering of EVMs’

The BSP chief Mayawati on Saturday started blaming the Electronic Voter Machine (EVMs) for her party’s nastiest performance in the Uttar Pradesh elections. She claimed that the Electronic Voter Machines were defective and it has not counted the votes of any other parties. Mayawati said “he EVMs were altered. Either the EVMs did not accept votes of any parties other than the BJP or the votes of other parties have gone to BJP in the EVMs. Press any button the vote goes to BJP Most votes in Muslim majority constituencies have gone to the BJP, which makes it evident that voting machines were manipulated.”

She also said that the election results of the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand must be stopped immediately and it is my request to the election commission. Mayawati charged the PM Modi and Amit Shah by saying that if they are so honest, then they should conduct a repoll with ballot papers. The truth will be unveiled. But the reality is that Mayawati’s BSP was never in the fight in the Uttar Pradesh elections. And it has become hard for the BSP supremo to digest this dreadful defeat.
