Dangal Crosses 1000 Crore Mark Worldwide, Reached 380 Cr. In China

If you think that S S Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion touched the massive 1000-crore mark all across the world, then you are wrong as Aamir Khan’s Dangal has become the second Indian film that touched the 1000-crore mark worldwide. This Aamir Khan film is all set to cross its domestic lifetime collection in China. It was released in China on May 5 as Shuai Jiao Baba (Let’s Wrestle Dad) and has made an extraordinary collection of 382.69 crore in 10 days at the box office of China.

There is no doubt in that it is a very proud moment for Indian cinema as first Baahubali made all of us proud of achieving the 1000-crore mark worldwide and now Dangal. The lifetime collection of Dangal in India stands at 387.38 crores while it collected 382.69 crores at the Chinese box office in just 10 days. The famous trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported in his tweet that Khan’s film collected 208.84 crores during the second weekend. Thanks to the audience of China who gave such an overwhelming response to Dangal and it helped in collecting over 1000-crore worldwide. After Baahubali, Aamir Khan’s Dangal is the second Indian movie that touched the landmark of 1000-crore.

Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures, “#Dangal – CHINA – Week 2 [updated]… Fri: $ 6.21 mn Sat: $ 13.86 mn Sun: $ 12.53 mn 10-day total: $ 59.74 million [₹ 382.69 cr].” Taran also shared, “#Dangal collects an EARTH-SHATTERING $ 32.60 mn / ₹ 208.84 cr in *Weekend 2* in China… UNPRECEDENTED… Weekend 2 data follows.” The Aamir Khan’s blockbuster hit film now stands at Rs 1146.69 crore, including 744 crores from India and other overseas markets where it was released in December.

Dangal also enjoyed the biggest release in China as it opened across 9,000 screens at the Chinese box office. It earned over 200 crores within the first week of its release in China, beating the record of the highest grossing film in China of Aamir’s 2014 film PK. PK had collected a number of 123 crores in the China. Dangal, directed was Nitesh Tiwari, was inspired by the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and how he taught wrestling to his daughters. The film also talked about the social issue of gender inequality.

Apart from Aamir Khan, Dangal also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Aparshakti Khurana and Sakshi Tanwar in pivotal roles. The film has successfully managed to touch the emotions of the audience of China and that’s why it has received such an overwhelming response there. The film has won four awards at the 62nd Filmfare Awards, which includes Best Film, Best Director, Best Action and Best Actor (Aamir Khan).
