Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Half Girlfriend’ is all set to release this Friday (19 May) and we are just excited waiting to watch this film. This film is directed by Mohit Suri, who has given some major hits at the box office like Ek Tha Villian and Aashiqui 2. Let us inform those who don’t know that Half Girlfriend is a film adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat’s famous book with the same title. There are many reports coming that this Arjun Kapoor starrer may witness the opening between 9-10 crore at the box office.
As we said earlier, the movie is based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel Half Girlfriend and its both leading roles – Madhav (Arjun) and Riya (Shraddha) will be seen playing basketball in the movie as well. It is also for the first time that the NBA (National Basketball Association) has collaborated with any Hindi film and helped the makers with shooting some basketball portions of the film. For those who don’t know, the NBA is the world’s top basketball league. As basketball is very important part in the film, Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor had to go through some arduous training in the US from the professional basketball players. Arjun Kapoor is playing a role of a simple guy from Bihar who falls in love with a high society Delhi girl, played by Shraddha Kapoor. They are coming first time together for any movie and we just couldn’t resist watching this cute couple on-screen.
While talking about the casting Arjun Kapoor in the film, director Mohit Suri said, “I hadn’t finished my script (of Half Girlfriend) when Arjun called me to meet regarding something else. I pre-judged him a little that he was a producer’s son, launched by a big banner, and must’ve been trained to become an actor. As cliche as a film family could be. He was brought up by a single mother, a strong independent woman who worked hard and made a name for herself in a male-dominated society.” “Somewhere down the line, when you talk to Arjun about things like ‘who did you date’ and he’ll say, ‘I was fat, so I couldn’t get a girl.’ He had the motivation to lose weight and become an actor. That’s hard work and that’s exactly what Madhav Jha is.
I thought these were the traits I could use. He always felt every girl was out of his league because of how he used to look, so I picked up these traits and used it for my film,” Suri added. Half Girlfriend is going to release tomorrow with Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium. It also stars Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal and Amrita Singh in the pivotal roles. The film is about the importance of studying in English medium school in India. There is no doubt in that it will be amazing for the Indian audiences to experience two purely fresh and different movies on this Friday. We wish a best of luck to both the releases of tomorrow.
