Sukhoi fighter jet is missing with 2 pilots, An Indian Air Force (IAF) Sukhoi-30 fighter plane is missing from yesterday with two pilots from near the Indo-China border in Assam near Tezpur, during a routine training mission on Tuesday morning, after taking off from Tezpur base station at 10.30 am.
The fighter jet’s was last reported it contact at 12.30pm with ground after that the aircraft lost their radar and radio contact with the base station and went missing said the defence public relations officer (Guwahati/Shillong), Lt Col Suneet Newton. A defence spokesman and the deputy commissioner of Sonitpur district said that a massive search operation is underway for the two pilots and the missing jet. Manoj Kumar Deka Deputy district Commissioner of Sonitpur told Tezpur reporters that after the two pilots that had taken off from the airbase at 10.30 am for a regular training has lost contact in Dubia nearby Gohpur Air Force base. And search for them is still on.
After the Jet take off from Tezpur on a routine mission, Sukhoi is located near Arunachal Pradesh which is only 400 km away from India-China border. The fighter plane lost its contact with the ground after two hours from its take off near in Arunachal Pradesh’s Doulasang area, a border adjoining China. According to the reports, when the multi-role pilots took off the fighter the region was witnessing bad weather hence the Jet lost control with the ground. At 12.30 the jet made its last contact with the ground and after that it went missing. It was only 60 km away from Tezpur AFS.
Out of the three air bases of the IAF in the country that hosts the Sukhoi, Tezpur is the one. Tezpur Air force station is located 172 km from the China border. Last year one Sukhoi 30 MKI was crashed near Nagaon town of Assam same on a training period. While at that time both pilots ejected out safely of plane before crash, the crash led to splinter injuries to some locals in the area.
