Today, Just after the midnight, a car bomb exploded outside a popular ice cream shop in central Baghdad which killed around 13 people and nearly 24 peoples are badly injured, the police officials said. While, the Islamic State militant group claimed the responsibility for the attack, which Iraq officials said involved remotely detonated explosives inside a parked car. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
The attack took when Muslims fast during daylight hours into the days of the holy month of Ramadan. During these day after sunset the muslim families break their fast therefore Baghdad’s restaurants and cafes are filled up during the incident. Social media videos showed disordered scenes on the streets into the areas surrounding the blast. There were number of injured persons lay on the ground and others propped themselves up on the colorful park benches outside the ice cream parlour. One young girl who is wearing a ribbon and bow in her hair wandering the area unconsciously.
Last year at the end of Ramadan month, Baghdad was rocked by a huge truck bomb attack and that accident mainly targeted city’s popular retail district where young people and families were shopping for new clothes for ramadan celebration, ahead of holiday. Since, Saddam Hussein was toppled in 2003, the blast killed hundreds of peoples in the single deadliest event in Baghdad and the IS group claimed responsibility for that bombing, ultimately which led to the resignation of Iraq’s interior minister.
Today’s attack happened because Iraqi officials are pushing IS fighters out of their last strongholds from the northern city of Mosul. Iraqi commanders, which recently entered into its eighth month of service, say the offensive will mark the end of the IS to the person who ruled an area in Iraq, but concede the group will likely increase person fighting against a government , attacks in the wake of military defeats.
