On Thursday morning, Pakistani Army started heavy firing of small arms, mortars, and automatics along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera and KG sectors of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. The Defense Ministry spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said, “Pakistan Army initiated indiscriminate firing and shelling on our positions on the LoC in Rajouri district’s Naushera sector and Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch.”
The Indian Army posts are retaliating firmly and effectively. As per reports, a laborer was killed and five people were injured, including a Jawan. The police said that there are some unconfirmed reports that a soldier had died as well, but no confirmation had come from the Army. The injured Border Security Force (BSF) head constable was recognized as Havaldar Mohammed Nizamuddin of 50 BN BSF and is being treated at an Army hospital in Mendhar. The Mendhar sub-divisional police officer Riaz Tantray told Hindustan Times that four Gref personnel were also injured when Pakistan attacked Balnoi area at 7:30 am. An Army officer was quoted saying, “Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the LoC in Keran sector Saturday by resorting to unprovoked firing, resulting in the death of one army porter and injuries to another.”
The driver Radha Krishan and Pervaiz Ahmed were seriously injured in the dreadful attack by the Pakistani army and were moved to the district hospital in Rajouri. On the other hand, the other two injured were being treated in a Mendhar hospital. Gref is a very important part of the Border Roads Organization, which is a division of the ministry of defense accountable for the upkeep of the road network along India’s frontiers. Tantray also said that the police had received the unconfirmed news about the death of an Indian soldier in Mankote. “Army hasn’t confirmed it yet,” he added. The forceful shelling was going on in the area and also promoting evacuation of the villagers. After a quiet period of two weeks, the ceasefire occurred place in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Krishna Ghati is the same place from where the Pakistani’s border action team crossed the LoC, surprise attacked a patrol and beheaded two Indian soldiers named as Paramjit Singh and Prem Sagar on May 1. After the brutal killings of two Indian soldiers, the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch witnessed heavy exchanges between the two sides. It is also a fact that Ceasefire violations go up in the summer as the snows melt and mountain passes open through which helps militants sneak into India. Talking about the last 3 years, the Pakistan has violated the ceasefire for more than 1,345 times. “Our forces are effectively retaliating. The two terrorists were eliminated in a joint operation with 22 Rashtriya Rifles, 92, 177 and 179 battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),” spokesperson Mehta added.
