Women's Cricket World Cup, India vs England Today

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team will start the world cup campaign against England. The Indian Women Team has made it to the final in 2005 only once in the World Cup where it defeated Australia. At that time, the captain of the team was Mithali and this time also the team’s commands is in her hands.

England has captured this title three times and being a host, England’s team will surely get the advantage on the ground. However, considering the existing form of India the host can not sit comfortably. Mithali’s team is in excellent form this time. She had performed well in the series of four countries recently in South Africa.

Earlier, she had won the World Cup qualifiers tournament. Due to lack of points due to the  refusal to play one-day series with Pakistan, the Indian team had to play qualifiers tournaments. Mithali Raj is the spine of team.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Veda Krishnamurti are good batsmen. Mithali’s experience will be extremely useful to the team. Apart from them, Jhulan Goswami was also in the team in the 2005 World Cup. The experience of the highest wicket-taker in Women’s ODI is also useful for the team.

Before this, England has hosted the World Cup for the two times and has claimed the world cup both the times. The team wants to do this for the third time too. England played against Sri Lanka in their last ODI series in 2016, in which they won. With this win, they had qualified directly in the World Cup. The good news for them is that Sarah Taylor has returned after a one-year break, which will strengthen the batting.

Heather Knight is heading the team for the first time in the World Cup. But she has a team which is very strong India will not make a mistake of undermining them and will prepare themselves best to achieve the victory in the World Cup.
