Anand Mahindra’s Apology to his Employees Firing from Tech Mahindra

IT companies have been one of the largest recruiters in the Indian country. Apart from the impact of stringent visa regime, increasing automation of processes would also lead to a reduction in hiring in coming years. Its a matter of problem because in one place people are not getting job and those who are having are not satisfied, if the they start reducing the number of employees they hire them this will simply lead to unemployment.

Anand Mahindra Chairman Mahindra Groups’s on Friday showed a public apology over one of the recent incident took place, he showed his concern towards his employees, and he was very much disappointed by the manner in which an employee of Tech Mahindra was asked to quit.

After the audio clip being viral Tech Mahindra’s top brass also apologised for it, which purportedly involved a conversation of an HR executive of the company asking an employee to put in his papers by next morning, and leave his job as part of corporate decision.

Just to “preserve the dignity of the individual” Anand Mahindra, chief of the $19 billion group, took to social media to apologise over the incident saying the core value of the conglomerate is “I want to add my personal apology. Our core value is to preserve the dignity of the individual and we will ensure this does not happen in future,” he tweeted.

Vineet Nayyar, Vice Chairman, of Tech Mahindra said in a note that “We have become aware of the incident involving a conversation between an employee and a company HR representative. We deeply regret the manner in which the discussion took place and have taken necessary corrective steps to ensure that this does not happen again in future.”

As per him the company with its “strategic priorities” and “requirements” of clients continues to implement strategies to meet the changing demands of business  as day by day our priority and needs keep changing, we always desire for the new in the current global economic environment and to align the workforce .

CP Gurnani, Tech Mahindra’s CEO tweeted that “This, however, will be done in a manner that befits our Rise philosophy and our group’s core values,” said Nayyar.

Some sort of similar feeling Gurnani showed in his tweet: “I deeply regret the way HR Rep (sic) & employee discussion was done. We have taken the right steps to ensure it doesn’t repeat in future.”

Tech Mahindra stands in the fifth rank among the the tally of Indian IT firms by revenues. And according to its fame it also holds a large number of employees, as per last year update the company had more than 1.17 lakh employees in December 2016 .

The audio clip circulated in the wrong time as Indian IT are facing challenges now a days, competition prevails all over counties like US, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. All the companies are not in its peak of development.

The company keeps denying the allegations consistently, there have been also been reports of mass layoffs by various companies, including Tech Mahindra regarding thesame situation.The companies have termed layoffs as part of normal business decisions, but many believe that these are directed more towards controlling costs.

Cognizant one of the well known company in India is a US based company and had recently rolled out a voluntary separation programme for directors, associate VPs and senior VPs, offering them 6-9 months of salary.At the same time 600 employees were asked to leave from Wipro, just as part of its annual “performance appraisal” earlier this year.

Announcement has been made by IT sector Infosys, that it will hire 10,000 people in the US over the next two years. Its peers Wipro and TCS will follow the same steps.

Now a days the IT firms are under working under the pressure to hire local American workers instead of taking Indian employees, who work on visas, to client sites as the US hardens its stance on outsourcing. Higher on-site hiring also impacts their margins.
