The Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court that if the court feels that the rules have been deferred in granting permission for Sanjay Dutt, they can send Sanjay Dutt back to jail. Last month, the Bombay High Court had asked the state government to explain why 57-year-old Sanjay Dutt was released before completing his 5-year sentence.

Today, the state government’s lawyer said in a statement that this case has come under PIL and if the law is broken, then the government once again can send Sanjay Dutt to jail.
Dutt was sentenced to five years in jail for his role in the 1993 blasts case. He served his sentence in Yerawada Central Prison in Pune for illegal possession and destruction of an AK-56 rifle.
On October 2013, Sanjay Dutt got a parole that was extended for 14 days. In December 2013, he was given a 30-day parole, which was extended twice. Actor’s sister was the guarantor for this. Since his sentence began, he had spent 146 days outside the jail
