Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian Prime Minister lashed new US sanctions as a full fledged economic war saying that they crushed hopes for repairing ties and the President Donald Trump’s total weakness in the most humiliating way.
On Wednesday, Donald Trump signed off the new sanctions that bow domestic pressure as the White House failed to scupper the bill or water.
Dmitry Medvedev warned the move would have consequences and said it ends for improving our relations with the new US administration.
Medvedev said on his Facebook page,” it is a declaration of a full fledged economic war on Russia.”
Medvedev added, “The US administration has shown its weakness by handing the executive power in the most humiliating way to Congress.”
However, the Trump signed the legislation behind the closed doors and his reluctance was on a full screen display in angry statement in which he called ,” The legislation significantly flawed down.”
He said,”the Congress included a number of clearly unconstitutional provisions in Its haste to pass this legislation, in which curbs on the president’s ability to negotiate with Russia is also included.
Trump claimed that he had built a great company of billions of dollars which is a big part of the reason for what he was elected, and as the president he can make better deals with foreign countries.
The legislation also includes measures against North Korea and Iran that targets the Russian energy sector after giving Washington the ability to impose sanctions on companies that involved in developing the Russian pipelines and placing curbs on exporters of Russian weapons .
Angrily, the Iran reacted saying the new sanctions against it violated its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers and warned.
With regards to Russia the sanctions constrains the Trump’s ability to waive the penalties. A statement from the Republican controlled the Congress which remains unsettled by Trump’s words for Vladimir Putin.
Trump said in his statement,” Framers of our Constitution had put foreign affairs in the hands of the President and this bill will prove the wisdom of choice.
Maverick Republican Senator John McCain said, ” The Congress and the President co equal branches of government is made by the framers of our constitution. This bill has proven the wisdom.”
He said, ” The president will be vocal about aggressive behaviour of Russia.”
This sanctions penalise the Kremlin for meddling the US presidential election and for Russia’s annexation of Crimea of Russia in 2016.
Trump said,” he would honour the bill provision but stopped short of saying it would be fully implemented.”
The White House said that the Trump will give Congress preferences, careful and respectful consideration.
Trump said that he was signing the bill for the sake of nation’s unity and it represents the will of the American people to improve the relations with the United States.”
He had received the legislation on Friday at 1.53 pm but waited until Wednesday to sign it.
This delay has raised the speculation that the Trump might try to shelve the sanctions which were approved in a 98-2 Senate vote.
He avoided the humiliating prospect of Congress by overriding his veto after signing it.
The Moscow ordered the Washington to reduce its diplomatic presence in Russia by bringing it in line with Russia’s mission in the United States.
The Kremlin said,” the Trump sign the sanctions and doesn’t change anything in a less adversarial statement than those that are issued by the foreign ministry and Medvedev.”
The sanctions against Russia had put global stability at risk and call them a dangerous and short sighted policy, said the foreign ministry.
It said, ” We have shown that we are not going to leave the hostile acts unanswered and reserve the right to take retaliatory measures.”
The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said,” He will meet with his Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov but warned the US-Russia ties could get worse. “
The Tillerson said,” US Congress’s decision to pass the sanctions bill had made the attempts more difficult.”
A prosecutor is investigating whether the Trump advisers colluded what US intelligence has concluded as an attempt by Russia to support the real estate 2016 campaign.
