On Thursday ONGC Deputy General Manager of from Kakinada city in Andhra Pradesh got arrsted by CBI for accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh, said an officia.
P. Venkata Ramana,was arrested as he is deputed in the technical department of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Kakinada, while he was taking the bribe in a trap which was planned by the Central Bureau of Investigation following a complaint against him.
“Ramana has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, For accepting the bribe of Rs 4 lakh, Acts following the allegations of demanding and also he helped a contractor in his tender process,” a CBI official said.
A CBI team also conducted searches at the premises of the ONGC officer and recovered the folowing
- Several property papers
- A house at Kakinada
- One flat at Vijayawada
- Fixed deposits worth Rs 37 lakh
- Rs 1.65 lakh in cash
- And several bank accounts and two lockers.
CBI under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and as per ereports a case was registered against him. The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thusday, at constant time conducted raids at Guntur and avatar districts of state and unearthed many properties happiness to a Superintending Engineer of the Roads, Buildings department. The defendant was known as Karampudi Veera Raghavendra Rao and was acting at the Guntur circle workplace.
As per the current report by The Times of India it is informed that the price of his disproportionate assets was Rs 2.41 crore, adding that the official had been allegedly taking important amounts from contractors as bribes.
An investigation is still in process.
