South Delhi School Rape Case: Class 1 Student Sexually Assaulted

On Thursday, a 6-year-old class 1 girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at Sant Nirakari Public School in Malaviya Nagar in South Delhi just about a month after a Class 2 student was found murdered in Gurgaon’s Ryan International school, leading concerns over student safety in schools. As per CNN-News 18, the girl went to the washroom and called for a woman attendant for help. But a male member of housekeeping staff came into the washroom and allegedly assaulted her.

The police have arrested the accused and now is in judicial custody. The accused had joined the school three months ago, said the police. The victim’s father said that the woman employee who was expected to help children was not in the washroom at that time. “She had been sent downstairs for some work. After using the washroom, my daughter called the woman for help but the male employee entered and assaulted her sexually. My daughter shouted and rushed to her class,” he said. According to the police, the child was rushed to AIIMS where the doctors confirmed rape. “We are in shock and have nothing to say. We send our kids to get educated and not to be victims of such perverts loitering in schools,” the father added.
