Keeping an eye on the increasing unemployment, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is putting forward his efforts to move the infra sector of our country by creating more jobs for the youth as previously, demonetization already had slowed the growth process of our country and at the same time, the level of unemployment has been increased. This announcement is going to turn out as the government’s biggest decision before the upcoming assembly polls.

Today, the Union Cabinet approved mega highway plan to develop about 83,000 km of roads at an investment of Rs 6.9 lakh crore in next 5 years. As per the reports, Arun Jaitley the Finance Minister of our country is likely to make an announcement regarding the same at 4 pm today.

As this project is one of the biggest project executed by the government for the development, it is country’s biggest highway development plan, the Phase 1 of Bharatmala project to develop has been approved by the government and the possible expansion will be of 40,000 km of roads, in it government will be investment of Rs 3.5 lakh crore by 2022.

As per the government plans to reduce unemployment from our country, this plan will engage around 4 crore man on a daily basis, as the construction of the highways will be for more than 10,000 km.

Bharatmala highway project is an umbrella highway development programme, this project will connect border areas of the country, just to improve international relation, other than it will improve the port and coastal connectivity, and besides that it will connect the highway corridors, mostly 44 economic corridors, which is a key to the economic and commercial hubs. With the uniform four-lane roads the government is trying to improve the speed of traffic movement providing the best facility to the country’s people.

As per the recent survey, it has been recorded that, due to poor roads, narrow width and congestion road, in India a truck covers only an average distance of 250-300 km daily, while in developed countries trucks cover an average 700-800 km daily.  So the government’s new plan is to increase the average distance of a truck covers daily in India. And through this development program of highway and roads, the government is trying to create more jobs to push the economic activity of our country, as this project will engage at least 32 crore man-days across the country by 2022.
