IAF Drill Live: IAF Fighter Jets start Landing on Agra-Lucknow Expressway


On Tuesday, the Indian Air Force started its drill to touchdown 20 aircraft on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. It happened for the first time that any transport aircraft landed and later took off from an expressway.

Here are the live updates:

11.10 am: One Sukhoi 30 MKI touchdown on the Expressway. The Indian Air Force has contracted ,a planes of which 240 have been transported. Talking about the remaining 32 fighter planes, they are likely to be received in the next three years.

11 am:  The crowd has come together to experience the IAF exercise in Unnao.

10.40 am: One Mirage 2000 fighter jet lands on the Expressway. Mirage 2000 was received into the Indian Air Force in the mid-80s and also proved its sound flight safety record. This aircraft can fly from Gwalior to Delhi in just 15 minutes.

10.35 am:  A C-130J Hercules, the first transport aircraft, lands and takes off on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway.

Powered by four Rolls Royce engines, the aircraft could be used for a variety of missions such as combat delivery, peacekeeping, low-intensity conflict, search and rescue, disaster relief, humanitarian missions and special operations. This aircraft is used by 15 countries including the air forces of the UK, US, Canada, Italy, Australia, and Denmark.
