The police said that at least three people died when a gunman opened fire on a crowd inside a Walmart store in the US state of Colorado. The Thornton Police Department said on Twitter that two men were killed in the shooting and an injured woman died in a hospital. “Detectives currently reviewing security footage & witnesses being interviewed for assistance with suspect[s],” the police said.
“At this time this is NOT an active shooter. Active crime scene. We will update as info becomes available,” the police department tweeted. The New York Times reported that the incident took place on Wednesday evening in the suburban Denver store and the gunman is yet to be captured. The police, on the other hand, released a photograph of a middle-aged white man in a black jacket exiting the Walmart. “It’s random as of right now. The person came in and just shot towards a group,” said a Thornton Police Department spokesperson. The spokesperson also added that investigators are not aware of a motive and said the suspect did not speak before opening fire with a handgun inside the store’s south entrance.
The local news outlet Denver Post reported that the noise of gunshots sent people running to save their lives at the Walmart store. Two men were announced dead on the spot and a woman later succumbed to the injuries at a hospital. The police are unable to find any weapon.
