A Delhi court on Tuesday postponed the announcement of 2G spectrum cases against former telecom minister A Raja, DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi and others for December 5. The CBI Special Judge OP Saini postponed the case saying that judgment was not ready as documents filed in the case were voluminous and technical in nature which was still under checking.
Besides Raja and Kanimozhi, the first case filed by the CBI, facing trial are former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura, Raja’s erstwhile private secretary R K Chandolia, Swan Telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka, Unitech Ltd MD Sanjay Chandra and three top executives of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (RADAG) — Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair. Adding to it, Bollywood producer Karim Morani, Directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd Asif Balwa and Rajiv Agarwal and Kalaignar TV Director Sharad Kumar are also accused in the case.
The court will look for clarification in the 2G case against Essar and Loop promoters on December 5. The CBI had also claimed that the promoters of Essar Group were the main investors and beneficiaries of the spectrum and licenses issued to Loop Telecom, which was used as a frontage company by Essar to obtain 2G licenses and spectrum in 2008. However, all the accused have refuted from the charges.
