The survey done by ABP-CSDS further of Gujarat assembly elections has shown that the BJP will win 113-121 seats whereas the Congress will settle in between 58-64 seats. As per the second round of the poll conducted in the last week of October, BJP’s seat share is expected to fall down majorly from the prediction made in August. In the second round of poll conducted by ABP News-Lokniti-CSDS in the state said that the saffron party would secure 47 percent of the votes, downfall from 59% in August, and the Congress would get 41 percent votes, which is a gain of 12 percent.
Talking about the first round of its pre-election poll conducted in the first half of August, the BJP was strongly in the lead from the Congress by 30 percent in terms of people’s voting first choice. But the advantage falls down to 6 percent. The survey also added that the Congress party is strongly recovering in two regions – Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat. In North Gujarat, the Congress was ahead of the BJP by 7 percent and in Saurashtra, the Congress and the BJP were found too close to call as both are at 42 percent. Both of these regions together account for 107 seats, which is more than the half of the seats in the 182-member Gujarat assembly.
However, it looks like Congress is in trouble in its traditional stronghold of Central Gujarat. The opinion poll revealed that the Congress party to be lagging behind the BJP in this region by 16 percent. South Gujarat also seems to be choosing the saffron party over Congress. The survey showed that the BJP to be getting 51 percent votes here compared to the Congress’s 33 percent.
