20 Mins Of Meditation is capable of Reducing PTSD Symptoms: These 5 Foods are helpful too


According a recent study it has been suggested that just 20 minutes of meditation twice a day, can reduce symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or what we call PTSD. The study was conducted on some war troupers in America. Researchers from Maharishi University of Management in Farfield, US, found a decrease in the symptoms of PTSD in the subjects who practiced Transcendental Meditation. After practicing for a month the meditation technique daily, the subjects experienced significant relief from the symptoms of PTSD. In fact, the study displayed that four out of five veterans were no longer suffering from severe PTSD.

Transcendental meditation might have similar effects on people who are suffering from other psychological disorders such as insomnia, depression and anxiety. These type of disorders are linked to PTSD and are often established as a result of PTSD. A person suffering from this type of disorder usually has trauma flashbacks, as a result of which signs of the other mental health problems are also developed. There are some foods which are also known for reducing the symptoms of PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Here I have got the list of five foods that may help relieve PTSD to some extent.

1. Blueberries

Researchers at Louisiana State University has found that blueberries are quite effective to lower PTSD symptoms in rats. Blueberries can control the mood of a person and help them to increase levels of serotonin in the brain, effectively bringing relief from PTSD.

2. Cheese and Milk

Dairy products such as cheese and milk are rich in amino acid known as tyrosine. Tyrosine is capable of triggering the production of dopamine, epinephrine and nor-epinephrine, thus increasing the levels of energy and alertness in the body. In addition to that, milk is rich in whey protein, which is hyped as a stress antidote.

3. Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea has been known for the properties of fighting stress. Chamomile have calming effect on people who frequently get to experience agitation, irritation, depression and mood swings.

4. Walnuts

As we all know that Walnuts are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. People who are chronically lacking in fatty acids often report depressive symptoms, pessimism and impulsive behavior. These fats are not to be jumbled with the ones that come from oily foods such as burgers and fries, which on the other hand, gives you sluggish and fatigued feeling.

5. Green vegetables
