The news agency PTI reported that a class 12 student allegedly killed his school principal by firing four shots with a .32 bore gun in Haryana’s Yamunanagar on Saturday. The police said, “The accused student fired four shots at Principal Ritu Chhabra, who was in her office, with a .32 bore gun and critically injured her.”
The police sources said that the student was frustrated over being rusticated from the school. A senior police officer said that “School staff, students, and teachers caught the student while he was trying to escape and handed him over to police”. The PTI quoted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Desh Raj as saying that “The principal succumbed to her injuries in the hospital”. The police added that the boy’s father is a financier and the pistol used for the crime belonged to the father and is a licensed one. They also added that the initial investigations suggest that the boy was escorted by at least one of his friends. The event took place between 11:30 am 12 noon and the reason behind the murder was still to be confirmed, the police said.
