Akshay Kumar’s PadMan, directed by R Balki, continues to make some good numbers at the box office. The film revolves around menstrual health and wants for cheaper and accessible sanitary napkin. It was managed to earn a total of Rs 40.05 Cr at the box office by the end of its first weekend.
The film had collected Rs 10.26 Cr on its opening day and paced up on Saturday with a growth of almost 35% making its second-day collection – Rs 13.68 Cr. The film witnessed a big jump on Sunday by collecting Rs 16.11 Cr. It will be interesting to witness how the Kumar’s film performs in the weekdays and stays strong or not. PadMan will have to face competition as Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary will release by next week, which might slow down the collections of the Akshay’s film.
The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review of PadMan that “Akshay Kumar is now consistently green-lighting socially-relevant films, and that is fine and laudable (Pad Man is produced by his wife Twinkle Khanna, a witty commentator on social mores). His 2017 Toilet: Ek Prem Katha started conversations around having toilets within the house. I liked both what it was trying to say and how it was doing so: it was done with a degree of flair.”
Here are the box office figures of PadMan:
Friday: 10.26 Cr
Saturday: 13.68 Cr
Sunday: 16.11 Cr
Total: 40.05 Cr
