The 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed has said that he will challenge the government’s “illegal” action in the court of law following Pakistan launched a restriction on seminaries and health facilities run by him. Beneath the huge pressure to act against banned groups, Pakistan took control of a seminary and four dispensaries run by Saeed-linked Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation (FIF).
“After detaining me for 10 months without any legal ground, the government has now issued a notification regarding taking over our schools, dispensaries, ambulances and other assets. It will hamper our relief operations in Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Kashmir and northern areas,” Saeed said following government’s action against him. As per the interior ministry notification, a copy of which available with PTI, “the federal government is pleased to direct that requisite actions with regard to freezing and taking over of assets (movable, immovable and human resource) associated with JuD and FIF shall be taken in pursuance of Ordinance No II of 2018.” The issuance date of notification is February 10.
The Punjab rural law minister Rana Sanaullah has also said that on the interior ministry’s guidelines, Hafiz Saeed and his charities have been banned to work in Pakistan and the government has already initiated taking over all the facilities, offices, schools, dispensaries and seminars that belong to the JuD and FIF. Hafiz Saeed, in a message to his workers, requested for calm and asked them not to give any violent reaction to the government against their charities. “This is the most difficult time but the workers must remain peaceful. The rulers are acting like more loyal than a king. India never bothered to implement UN resolutions on Kashmir but our rulers have got passed the president ordinance to take action against patriotic organisations like JuD and FIF,” Saeed said.
Hafiz Saeed added that Pakistani government is “taking extreme action against us” to please India and America. He said that “We will fight our case in court against this illegal action”, who is the leader of charity JuD, also believed to be a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group. Pakistan has come under extreme pressure to restrict in terror groups following US President Donald Trump accused the country of sheltering terrorists and suspended almost $2 billion in security help to it.
In a shameful incident for the BJP government in Rajasthan, a picture of state Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf urinating on the walls of the Jaipur has gone viral. Saraf, however, bounced it off by saying that it was “not a big issue”. The picture went viral, amusingly, when the Jaipur Municipal Corporation is giving its best to bring the city on the top charts under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
As per the rules, people who are found urinating on the roads are fined of 200Rs. IANS tried to contact the BJP Minister but his phone was switched off. When media reached his office to take his response, he declined to comment, saying he doesn’t want to talk on this topic as it is not a big issue. In a befitting reply to the Health Minister, Congress’ Rajasthan unit Vice President Archana Singh told IANS that at a time when so much money has been spent on Swachh Bharat, such leaders are setting a wrong example by doing such “shameful” deeds. She added that this should not have happened by the minister in his own constituency.
Sharma also added that during Dholpur by-polls when they were going altogether, Saraf did the same act, urinating publicly, but she failed a take a picture of them because of “poll stress at that time”. This incident comes days following Kota BJP leader Ashok Choudhary wrote to BJP President Amit Shah, asserting dissatisfaction with the Vasundhara Raje government. It was followed by an audio clip that went viral in which BJP MLA Gyandev Ahuja is heard asking for a leadership change. The saffron party had already faced major embarrassment after losing all three bypolls – two Lok Sabha and one Assembly, which held last month. Following that, the ruling party has been getting media attention for all the wrong reasons,
On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided multiple locations across cities in linked with a Rs 280-crore money laundering case against Nirav Modi, who has been interconnected by investigators to an Rs 11,400 crore fraud case at the state-run Punjab National Bank.
The establishments raided by the ED include Modi’s residence in Mumbai’s Kurla, his jewelry boutique in Kala Ghoda area, three company locations in Bandra and Lower Parel, three premises in Surat in Gujarat and his showrooms in Chanakyapuri and Defence Colony in Delhi. The PNB alleged in a regulatory filing that the fraud benefitted “a few select account holders” and that it has stated the matter to law enforcement agencies. The ED would probe if the allegedly cheated bank funds were laundered and these proceeds of crime were subsequently used by the accused to make illegal assets and black money, the sources told the Press Trust of India. Just over a week following investigators said that they were probing Modi and others over accusations that they cheated the PNB of Rs 280 Cr, the PNB’s Rs 11,400 Cr disclosure came out.
On the condition of anonymity, an official with the CBI told Reuters that the cases were related. The news portal BloombergQuint mentioned the government’s financial services secretary Rajeev Kumar as alleging the latest fraud was connected to jeweler Modi. The accused Modi couldn’t be reached for his comment instantly and has not made any comment on the accusations made against him last week. The TV channel CNBC TV18 reported that Modi had offered to pay back all dues to banks through a sale of his top company Firestar Diamond. The PNB, on the other hand, has already suspended 10 officers over the scam and referred the issue to the CBI for a probe. The shares of PNB prolonged their fall on Thursday for the second straight session, lowering as much as 9% in morning trade.
The new on-set pictures of Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30, a biopic on Anand Kumar, were shared by his various fan clubs on the social media on Wednesday. The 44-year-old actor will be seen playing a mathematician in the film from Patna who started the Super 30 initiative through which he trains aspiring IIT candidates.
In the new viral picture, Hrithik is seen in an extremely rugged avatar. It looks like that the actor has purely entered into the skin of the character to give the best of his to make this film a big one. Hrithik was seen without much beard in the new viral pictures, unlike the one makers released where the actor was seen sporting a heavy beard. While speaking to PTI, the real Anand Kumar had said of the first look that “I was delighted and pleasantly surprised to see the first look wherein Hrithik sports a rugged, bearded look. I had been told that at present the shooting was being done of my college days. I took out an old photograph of mine, of the time when I was studying at Patna University. I found the resemblance to be uncanny”.
“The movie is at present being shot in Varanasi, where I have spent a considerable part of my early life. I have been told that the crew will visit Patna too for shooting. Looking at the hard work and dedication involved in the project, I am confident it will turn out to be a biopic that does full justice to the theme and the ambience. Hrithik deserves kudos for mustering the courage to appear in a deglamorised look. He has also hired a speech trainer from Bhagalpur to get the Bihari accent right. Hats off to the star and the entire unit,” the Super 30 originator added. Hrithik’s Super 30, directed by Vikas Behl, is scheduled for release in January 2019.
The mastermind behind the terrifying 26/11 Mumbai blasts and Jamaat-ud-Dawah, Hafiz Saeed, has been declared a terrorist by Pakistan after ignoring for so long. This episode took place following Pakistan police on Monday removed barricades placed by members of Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawah outside the group’s headquarters.
The blockade had been set up a decade ago for the security concerns. “We have removed blockades from 26 places, including JuD headquarters in accordance with the Supreme Court’s orders,” said DIG (Lahore) Dr. Haider Ashraf. The President Mamnoon Hussain signed an ordinance on Tuesday that takes all individuals and organizations banned by the United Nations Security Council, like Jamaat-ud-Dawah, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Harkat-ul Mujahideen, under the domain of the amended Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1997. Talking about the UN list, they have banned a total of 27 outfits and the amendment in Section 11-B and 11-EE of the ATA spells trouble for the likes of Saeed.
The move came just days before the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) meeting in Paris where rumors were widespread of Pakistan being added to the greylist under pressure from the United States of America and India. Arriving on the list would surge the cost of doing international business and getting involved in cross-border transactions for Pakistan. Ahead of this amendment, UN identified groups and people banned by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Pakistan from collecting donations in the country.
The first look of the two main actors from the upcoming film ‘Sui Dhaaga’ was revealed late on Monday. This Yash Raj Films’ production features Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan, who have been paired for the first time. What really is striking us is the common folk look of them.
Anushka Sharma will be seen playing the role named as ‘Mamta’. In a first look picture, Anushka sports a purple and white sari, a mustard sweater, a bindi, and sindoor. Interestingly, the actress can be witnessed wearing ‘angoothe wale juraab’ (a customized sock that is worn with a slipper). The first look of the characters gave us the glimpse about the simple background and it will be far from stars’ glamorous real life. Varun, who plays Mauji in the film, also carries the purely common man look with ease. Produced by Maneesh Sharma under the Yash Raj Films banner, ‘Sui Dhaaga’ has been written by Dum Laga Ke Haisha director Sharat Katariya, who is also directing the film. ‘Sui Dhaaga’ will release on September 28.
While commenting on the choice of his heroine, Maneesh had said, “We wanted someone who could effortlessly transform herself into a character who is intelligent, strong and expressive even in her silence. Anushka brings in the authenticity and resilient spirit as a performer and a star. Today, moviegoers want to discover and love characters that they connect with. They want to identify themselves with the story and see how convincingly and truthfully actors translate it.” Both the lead actors have been preparing hard for their roles. The production house revealed in past that both the actors are required to know the skills of tailoring and stitching. While Anushka was seen with needles and thread, Varun was seen learning to stick with a sewing machine.
