Mubarakan Movie Review, the Comedy Served in Patiala Peg

Cast: Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Athiya Shetty

Director: Anees Bazmee

Rating: 3/5 Stars

First half: 3.5/5 Stars

Second half: 2.5/5 Stars

Watch it or not: You should watch this film for some really amazingly funny scenes.

Loo Break: Not really!

What’s good: Anil Kapoor’s comedy timing, Some funny scenes

What’s bad: A regular story (as expected), and a bit longer duration.

Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan released today all over and it is a good film to watch if you want to watch a simple comedy film. Bazmee has directed Singh is King, Ready, Thank you, No Problem, Welcome and Welcome back before Mubarakan. Welcome is unarguably one of the most watched comedy films on TV in recent times.

Coming to Bazmee’s Mubarakan, it is a typical Bazmee film that entertains you, with some loud music, the grand entry of the hero and later, some unexpected situations that create a mess for that situation and make us laugh like there’s nothing better than watching comedy films. There’s one thing good about the film and it is that you will like to see Arjun Kapoor in this film, one genre where we also enjoyed watching Arjun Kapoor on the screen. There are some typical slapstick comedy dialogues like “Ye zaroor druggie hai? Ye Punjab se aaya hai,” which isn’t really funny. But that’s how our cinema works. Talking about the best thing happened to this film, Anil Kapoor, who’s just so much needed for a regular film like ‘Mubarakan’. Anil Kapoor creates magic whenever he comes on the screen and one should watch this film just for his comic timing.

Anil Kapoor plays his role ‘Kartar Singh Bajwa’ so perfectly that he steals all the limelight from all the other cast. Arjun Kapoor, however, played a great role and it was good to watch him in this film, but you just can’t compare him with Anil Kapoor’s charisma. I can say without a doubt that Anil Kapoor is the best thing happened to the film. Talking about the lead actresses of the film, Ileana D’Cruz and Athiya Shetty gave justice to their roles. It was just amazing to see Ileana on screen as she looked so beautiful and sexy that one just can’t look anywhere else. Shetty’s scanty presence in the first half is something that makes you feel like that she’s just not in the film, but she dignified her role in the second half gracefully.

Mubarakan Review: Star Performances

Playing as Karan (the smart one) and Charan (the duffer), Arjun Kapoor gave justice to both the characters. It was amazing to see the way Arjun played Karan on screen. After such a long time, we saw Arjun in his full form and enjoying it as well.

Anil Kapoor as ‘Kartar Singh Bajwa’ is something that you just can’t miss out. From Kapoor’s energy to his charisma, no actor was able to match the beats with him. He is the reason that one should watch this film. He played Karan’s mamu and Charan’s chachu, and his comic timing is something that will make you laugh like hell. Kapoor always picks the film up whenever its pace goes down.

Ileana D’Cruz is looking so beautiful and sexy in Mubarakan that you just can’t take your eyes off her. She’s playing as a hot Sardarni in the film. If you are an Ileana fan, then you just can’t miss this film. She played her role gracefully and it was amazing to see the way she portrayed herself in this comedy film.

Athiya Shetty is hardly there in the first half of the film, but she gives her best in the second half of the film whenever she comes on the screen. It was nice to see Athiya Shetty in this film. She played her role decently.

Overall, Mubarakan is a family entertainer that you can watch if you like to see comedy films or if you are an Anil Kapoor fan.

"MOM" Reviews, Sridevi's Magnificently Expressive as a Avenging Mother in Movie

‘Mom’ directed by Ravi Udyavar has been released in the threaters. With ‘MOM’ Sridevi has completed 50 years of her career, this is 300th film of Sridevi. Mother’s strong character is being shown in many films from a single time. Like Mother India, mother or recently released Raveena Tandan Starrer ‘Mater’. It will be intresting to see whether hawa-hawai girl will receive a great welcome from her fans as she had received in English-Vinglish.

This story begins with a school. Devki (Sridevi) is a teacher in the school. In the same school, Devki’s step daughter Aarya (Sajal Ali) also studies. Mohit, a student studying with Arya, sends porn messages to Arya. Devaki is angry with this and punishes Mohit. Arya does not love her stepmother at all, whereas Devaki loves her daughter very much.

In the party of Valentine’s Day, Mohit rapes Arya and throws her into the gutter after which the case goes into court, where court make the decision in Mohit’s favor. Disheartened by court’s decision, Devki goes to seek help from a detective, Dahshankar Kapoor aka DK (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Twist and turns come in the story. Whether Mohit will get punishment for his sins or whether he will walk freely and live a normal life, to get the answer for this we have to watch this intresting movie.

The story of the film is not new but the way to serve it is new. Many ups and downs have been shown wellin the film. The screenplay of the film is quite crisp. The issue is not new but it will definitely attract the audience’s attention. Cinematography is also good with director Ravi Udyavar directing.

Sridevi’s acting is very good and in the very best way she has played the role of Devaki, a responsible mother and wife. Along with this, Nawazuddin Siddiqui once again has surprised us with his acting. Nawaz’s look and tone is interesting. The role of Akshay Khanna is very interesting. At the same time Sajal Ali’s work is worth compliments. Abhimanyu Singh’s work is also good. The film is good from the acting acting point of view

Apart from Sridevi, Nawazuddin and Akshay Khanna, Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui is also the part of the film. Ravi Udyavar has told the media that, Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor was the one who suggested the name of Pakistani actor Adnan Siddqui for the role of father in the film.

Salman Khan's Tubelight Fails to Enter 100 Crore Club Even on the Occasion of EID

Salman Khan’s much-awaited film Tubelight which was released last week hasn’t managed to enter the 100 Crore club even on the occassion of Eid. Though Friday and Saturday weren’t really huge, the film at least went past the 20 Crore Mark on both the days. However, this also meant that Sunday and Monday had to be over 30 crore mark if the Salman Khan starrer had to stay on contention for the 100 crore milestone before the weekdays kick-started. Once that didn’t happen on Sunday either, the writing was clear on the wall that even with a big push on Sunday, the film’s 100 crore journey would have to wait for a little while.

This is what’s happening now for the Kabir Khan directed film which gathered 21 crore* on Monday [Eid holiday], hence resulting in an overall nett of 85.77 crore*. The film would eventually go past the 100 crore mark today but by all means, this would be the slowest 100 crore earner for Salman Khan in a really long time, what with five days expected to be consumed for this milestone.

Salman Khan’s Eid release Tubelight is unable to break the box-office records set by his previous blockbuster films, so his last release Sultan remains the highest opening weekend film on Eid with a collection of 108.36 crores.

Though the film’s collections are not up to the mark, it has still managed to become the 6th highest grosser of 2017 in just 4 days. Tubelight has beaten the lifetime biz of Hindi Medium.

5 Reasons why Salman’s Tubelight Failed at the Box Office

The festival of Eid is incomplete without a film of heartthrob Salman Khan in India. The ‘Bhai’ of Bollywood is unarguably one of the biggest superstars of recent time. From ‘Dabangg’ to ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, Salman Khan clearly showed the power of his stardom at the box office and also received a great praise for his acting as well by the critics, who generally criticize the actor for lack of his acting skills. Salman’s last film ‘Sultan’ accomplished the big mark of 300 Crore club as well. Like every year, all the fans of Salman Khan were eagerly waiting for this year’s Eid release ‘Tubelight’, which is an adaptation of the 2015 American film ‘Little Boy’. Salman’s film released on 23rd June 2017, but contrary to all, it received a lukewarm response at the box office.

If you look at Salman’s ‘Tubelight’ trailer, songs, other visuals, unquestionably it gives you a feel of something very real and a purely ‘Hatke’ film of the ‘Dabangg’ actor. But talking about the box office collections of the film, it shocked everyone as it wasn’t even near of the Bhai’s previous movies. There could be many reasons behind that as the period was of Pre-Eid or it’s not a typical Salman Khan film. In this Article, we will show you some of the reasons why the Salman Khan’s film failed at the box office. The motive of this article is to show the real reasons for all the Salman Khan fans that why the film failed at the box office and there’s absolutely fine if this fails to do business like any other Salman’s films (Dabangg, Sultan or Bajrangi Bhaijaan)

  1. ‘Tubelight’ is not a typical Salman Khan film

Many of the typical Salman Khan fans were disappointed with the fact that there were no ‘Seeti-maar, Naach Gaana and Filmy dialogues’ moments in this film. The film was about emotions and movies like this always had a smaller section of the audience and that’s one of the biggest reasons why it failed to make any storm at the box office. If you look at the previous Salman Khan films like Sultan, Kick, Dabangg and even Bajrangi Bhaijaan to a certain level, had many of the moments where they could enjoy the typical Salman Khan. But ‘Tubelight’ was purely a ‘Hatke’ Salman Khan movie from his recent past movies.

In an interview with Firstpost, Salman Khan said, “I doubt that Tubelight will break Baahubali 2’s record because the latter is one of the most freakish films that have been made. As long as nobody loses money, I am fine. I don’t feel the pressure.”

  1. A bad marketing strategy

The trailer of Salman Khan’s Tubelight was released on 25th of May, nearly a month before the actual release of the film, and for a different subject like this film, you have to make some extra efforts to reach more and more audience. After such a long time, Salman Khan promoted his film at a very small level. The right level of promotions for a film like Tubelight could have changed the scenario of the film. This Salman Khan’s film has received the lowest opening day figure since 2012 at the box office. Many of the people must be thinking that it received a lower opening because the critics gave negative reviews to the film, but if you notice the reviews of the critics of Salman’s past films like Kick, Dabangg, Dabangg 2 and many more received bad reviews as well. A good marketing strategy could have changed the whole opening weakened scenario for the film.

  1. Over-the-top expectations from the Salman-Kabir combo

After the gigantic success of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ at the box office, the fans were expecting something bigger than it and ‘Tubelight’ was definitely not like it. Whatever the business ‘Tubelight’ would be able to do at the box office, it would be because of the superstar Salman Khan and to a certain level, fans of Kabir Khan Films. Many of the people were expecting that it would have same connect of emotions like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ had, but the case was purely opposite. Only certain sections of the audience accepted the Salman Khan’s Tubelight and that section is way smaller than of the usual Salman Khan films. If ‘Tubelight’ touches the box office mark of 150 crores, it would be awesome for such a film and the biggest credit would go only to the presence of Salman Khan in it.

  1. No buzz for the film

The most shocking part for the film was that it failed to create curiosity for the audiences, which led to not a great opening film especially, which stars Salman Khan. There is no doubt in that the trailer and songs of the film were good enough to create the hype, but something was missing that created a big mess for the film. For every film, it is very important for the producers to create some hype so that the audiences feel excited for watching the film. But at the case of ‘Tubelight’, it was purely opposite as there was no buzz for the film. If it had the hype like previous films of Salman (Bajrangi Bhaijaan or Sultan), then it must have experienced a bigger and better opening at the box office.

  1. ‘Tubelight’ lacks the repeat value

We are neither praising nor criticizing the Salman Khan film, but the truth is that ‘Tubelight’ lacks the repeat value, which became the biggest setback for the film. As the collections of this film going, it looks like that this film will not get better by the upcoming days. The best part about recent Salman Khan Films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan or Sultan was that it could be watched more than once, but in the case of ‘Tubelight’, it is just a one-time watch movie. And the harsh truth is that the main story and the plot of the ‘Tubelight’ are loosely adapted from American Film ‘Little Boy’. It had nothing fresh to show in this film.

In the end, we can assure all the Salman Khan fans that the film is definitely not doing the amazing business, but it’s purely fine as it’s not a typical Salman Khan film. We are hoping that the Salman Khan fans would accept his new ‘Hatke’ avatar in ‘Tubelight.

'Tubelight' Fails to Impress the Critics, Didn't Receive Much Love From the Audience

Salman Khan starrer ‘Tubelight’ has been released all over the nation on 23rd June. The film doesn’t received much love from the critics. The film which was expected to earn 25-30 crore on its opening day has received only 21.15 crore. Tubelight amassed $1.05 million (Rs 6.6 crore) in UAE-GCC, Dubai and other areas where it was released one day ahead of India, according to

The movie which also stars Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and child prodigy Matin Rey Tangu did well in the northern belt. ‘Tubelight’ being Salman Khan’s Eid release is yet to garner good moolah and is expected to earn more after Monday (Eid). It has been released at 4350 screens means there were numbers for the taking. On the opening day, Tubelight recorded 30-35% of occupancy for morning shows in India, while in north alone it opened up with 45-50%.

This movie of Salman Khan which was expected to break Bahubaali: The Conclusion’s record fails to break the records of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015)40.35 crore, Sultan[2016] 36.54 crore, Ek tha tiger[2012] – 33 crore, Bajrangi Bhaijaan  [2015] – 27.25 crore, Kick[2014] – 26.52 crore, Bodyguard [2011] – 21.60 crore. Directed by Kabir Khan, Tubelight has earned less than all the movies mentioned above on its opening day.

The film was hyped immensely. But well, the opening seemed disappointing, if not phenomenal, which means no records has been created or broken here.

Tubelight, directed by Kabir Khan, is an official remake of the 2015 American war drama Little Boy. It tells the story of brothers Laxman (Salman Khan) and Bharat Singh Bisht (Sohail Khan).

Keeping in mind the huge fan following and the excitement among the audiences, Tubelight got the biggest release any Bollywood movie has ever seen in India.

Tubelight has an extended weekend to rake in the moolah, with Monday also being a holiday, for Eid. Given that there are no Bollywood releases for the next two weeks, Kabir Khan’s film has a clear window at the box office. The next big Hindi release in Sridevi-starrer Mom, which hits screens on July 7.

Toilet: EK Prem Katha, Comedy and Tragedy Blended Together

Trailer of Akhshay’s more awaited movie ‘ Toilet Ek Prem Katha’, released on Sunday evening. ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ starring Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and Bhumi Pednekar is coming with a very strong message for the society. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, ‘ Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ will paint the picture of PM Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. This movie is a satarical comdey film.

People are loving everything about the trailer of the movie. Trailer of the movie is enough to give the glimpses of comedy, fun and tragedy. The trailer of the movie openly talks about the condition of women in a country. The country, where women are given a place of the Goddess, fails to maintain the privacy of the women as they have to go out and defecate in open. The film is much more than just a fictitious story, it is the struggle of everyday life of women which remains unnoticed by us.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a story about a couple Keshav (Akshay Kumar) and Jaya(Bhumi) who struggles to make toilet in their village. In this film, Keshav in the starting of the movie doesn’t realize the importance of having a toilet in the village but after his marriage to Jaya, Jaya leaves him for not having a toilet in the house and the village, the actor then realize the importance of having a toilet in the house.  Soon his struggle to get back his wife begins but there is another hindrance — a society that may consider women their ‘izzat’ but refuses to give respect to them. Ironically, Tulsi, the goddess, is the reason cited for not having a toilet at home and forcing women of the house to defecate in open.

In the trailer, we hear women saying to Bhumi, “Chalo sava chaar hogaye hai, sab intezaar kar rahe hai lota party mein tumhara welcome ka.” When she can’t bring herself to go in the open, she is made fun of. The women say, “Sasuraal mein khaane ko na de rahe? Saari laaj sharam chodhkar lag jao kaam pe.”  Being a frustrated husband, Akshay asks his fellow village men if banishing a toilet more important than a woman’s privacy.

Dialogues, written by Siddharth-Garima, are perfect reflection of the mentality that needs to be challenged. As Anupam Kher says in the trailer – “if you change nothing, nothing will change.”

Finally, the trailer comes to an end on a disappointing note where the actor can be heard saying, “Aashiqo ne Aashiqui ke liye Taj Mahal bana diya, hum ek sandas na bana sake,” which left the audience with the question, whether the couple get success in their struggle of making a toilet in their village.

The trailer has so far received over 5 million views and counting. It seems like trailer of the film is receving immense love from the audience and critics. Even the bollywood celebrities are praising the trailer alot. Actor Anil Kapoor posted about  the film’s subject. “Voicing an important issue in a heartwarming & eye opening way! Kudos,” wrote Anil Kapoor, Akshay’s co-star of films like Tashan, Welcome and Bewafaa. ohn Abraham, who has worked with Akshay in Garam Masala and Desi Boyz, was the first celeb to tweet about the film. “Here’s wishing all the best to my co-producers of #Parmanu @kriarj & my friend @akshaykumar on their new venture!!”

A few days ago, the National-Award winning actor met PM Modi and shared the theme and title of his movie, which reportedly made the PM smile.

The movie is said to be released on 11 august.
