BCCI Strict Guidelines For IPL 2017 Opening Ceremony

Indian Premier League is one of the most celebrated and profitable affair for BCCI. It’s been years the association is organizing this league but this time something new is there on the way to it. This time strict guidelines have been incorporated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and it is a 19-page ‘Request For Proposals’ (RFP). This RFP is from interested companies that will stage 8 opening ceremonies which will take place during the first match of all the eight franchises in the league and it will also include the closing ceremony in Hyderabad.

During all the editions of the IPL the transparency and probity has always been questioned and to maintain that, the new guidelines need the interested parties to be companies with Rs.30 Crore annual turnovers and they should be ready to pay 35 per cent to the bank as guarantee and should not have any criminal record.

When the Committee of Administrators (COA) took over, the strain has been on transparency and the first steps towards achieving that is being taken after the issuing of RFP. As per the statement of the Board it is been made clear that have companies with expertise in event management will get the contract.

Few guidelines loosely for interested companies:

  • The company that will get this task have to invest the whole amount of money from their side for  hosting 8 opening ceremonies as well as closing ceremonies.
  • Irrevocable and unconditional bank guarantee of 35 per cent of the planned costs within five working days from counter-execution of presenting agreement.
  • Each interested company’s recent audited accounts should be there and that should have proof of an annual turnover of Rs 30 crore.
  • No person criminally sentenced or being guilty of conflict of interest should not be related with interested companies.

This time the association has took a great step towards transparency but let’s see who well it works?
