Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2018 will be conducted by IIT Guwahati this year. Every year the GATE exam is conducted by the different IIT and this coming year 2018 GATE exam will be conducted by IIT Guwahati. In 2010 for the Last time IIT Guwahati conducted the GATE. Apart from GATE, it also conducted the JEE Advance in 2016. And the exam date for the said entrance has not been notified yet.
GATE is an entrance examination, through which the candidates are selected for admission in M.Tech/M.E course. Every year thousands of students register themselves under gate examination. One reason for increase in the number of candidates is that even the Public Sectors recruit candidates through GATE. The recruitment is generally done on the basis of the normalized score in the exam. Last year, BSNL announced 2510 recruitment through GATE, making itself one of the major recruiter through GATE. Candidates also seek jobs in ONGC, NCL, GAIL, NTPC etc.
The exam is held in the month of January or February 2018, over the course of multiple days and session. The registration for it can only be done through GOAPS, which opens in the month of September or October.

As per the official notice we came to know that the tender document for the examination 2016-18, it was mentioned that IIT entrance exam will be conducted by IIT-G for the 2018-19 session.
Gate is considered as one of the toughest exam the aspiring candidates should start preparing for GATE well in advance. It is an online examination, in which the institution will be covering the exam for all the 23 disciplinary courses. The candidates are required to attempt the examination in 3 hours. In the single question paper, there will be 65 questions in the exam and will be a mixture of multiple choice type and numerical answer type questions. Candidates can only attempt GATE in online mode, with the assistance of the virtual calculator. Apart from the subject paper, the candidates will have to solve question on General Aptitude as well.
As far as the level of difficulty is concerned, GATE is a vast examination because of the number of paper it covers. From last year onward, the total number of disciplines under it has increased to 23. Hence, the level of difficulty in each one of it varies. Yet, the trends state that despite the low pass percentage, the number of the questions is between moderate to difficult.
Only those candidates will be recruited, who will perform well in the exam, as well as the interview round.The body will determine a candidate by their cutoff and marks basis, and the applicants will be shortlisted two ways which are as following:
- On the basis of group discussion.
- On the basis of personal interview round.
