As tomorrow is the last day to apply under first cut-off list, DU is expecting large number of aspirants to register for first cut-off list. Students were unable to access online portal; due to some technical glitches, which gave it a slow start.

DU released its first cut-off list on June 23 and admission started on June 24. Applicants are required to go to the college they qualify for only after obtaining the slip that the online portal generates. The slip mentions the course and college of their choice. After verification of the documents, students need to revisit the online portal to make the payment and confirm their admission in the college.

This year, the highest cut-offs across all streams for unreserved students were 99.66% for B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics and 99% for B.A. (Hons.) Political Science at SGTB Khalsa College. The institution, however, were a deserted look on the first day. Officials said the high cut-offs contributed to the low turnout.

“The cut-offs in our college are particularly high this year because of the high marks that students have obtained in their board examinations. However, candidates can expect a dip in the second cut-off list, after which more students are likely to join our college,” said officiating principal Dr. P.S. Jassal.

KMC, which had more realistic cut-offs like 97.25%, saw a larger turnout. On Saturday, around 200 students took admission to the college.

The deadline to take admissions under the first cut-off list is June 28. Monday being a holiday on account of Id, the admission process will now resume only on June 27.
