PadMan box office collection: Akshay’s film crosses Rs 40 Cr at the box office

Akshay Kumar’s PadMan, directed by R Balki, continues to make some good numbers at the box office. The film revolves around menstrual health and wants for cheaper and accessible sanitary napkin. It was managed to earn a total of Rs 40.05 Cr at the box office by the end of its first weekend.

The film had collected Rs 10.26 Cr on its opening day and paced up on Saturday with a growth of almost 35% making its second-day collection – Rs 13.68 Cr. The film witnessed a big jump on Sunday by collecting Rs 16.11 Cr. It will be interesting to witness how the Kumar’s film performs in the weekdays and stays strong or not. PadMan will have to face competition as Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary will release by next week, which might slow down the collections of the Akshay’s film.

The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review of PadMan that “Akshay Kumar is now consistently green-lighting socially-relevant films, and that is fine and laudable (Pad Man is produced by his wife Twinkle Khanna, a witty commentator on social mores). His 2017 Toilet: Ek Prem Katha started conversations around having toilets within the house. I liked both what it was trying to say and how it was doing so: it was done with a degree of flair.”

Here are the box office figures of PadMan:

Friday: 10.26 Cr

Saturday: 13.68 Cr

Sunday: 16.11 Cr

Total: 40.05 Cr

Actor Akshay Kumar not worried about probable clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat

There are strong rumors surfing that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat may hit the screens on the same day with Akshay Kumar’s Padman. However, Kumar seems positive and hopes that both the movies do well in the holiday weekend. Due to the controversy, Bhansali’s Padmavat missed its December 1 release date to which finally has been given a green signal for the release and as per ongoing gossips, the producers are planning to release the film on January 25 and to clash with R Balki-directed “Padman”.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently gave U/A certification to the film along with some modifications and suggested to change the title from “Padmavati” to “Padmavat”. When Akshay was asked about the possibility of Bhansali’s film with his Padman, he said that “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come. Both the films can release on that day”. “Every film has the right to release whenever they (makers) want, and I am happy for them,” Kumar told reporters. However, Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions are still to announce the release date of the “Padmavat”.

Akshay’s co-star in Padman Sonam Kapoor said that she would wait for an official announcement from the team of “Padmavat”. “It is not announced officially, isn’t it? If it is, it is good. There is a need for competition when it comes to films and (it is) high time that the film releases. Good cinema is good cinema, I don’t believe in competition. And honestly, I am just happy that the film is releasing, more than anything else, and I hope the film does well. I am pretty sure that there is no official statement from the production house of the film (Padmavati) release,” Sonam said. Akshay and Sonam were busy last night in promoting their film on Zee Marathi’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa – Ghe Panga Kar Danga.

Kesari first look: Akshay Kumar begins shooting for the epic film with fascinating look

The Khiladi Kumar shared his first look from the film ‘Kesari’, which is based on the Battle of Sargarhi, on Friday morning. The 50-year-old actor excels the look of a Sikh warrior in the morning. The film ‘Kesari’ is based on the Battle of Sargarhi, which happened in 1897 between British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzai tribesmen in North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan).

“Feeling nothing but immense pride and gratitude while sharing this. Beginning my 2018 with #KESARI, my most ambitious film and a lot of passion. Need your best wishes as always @dharmamovies @iAmAzure @SinghAnurag79,” Kumar took to Twitter to share the first look. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film will release on Holi 2019. There are two other Hindi films as well, which are working on the same subject. The Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda is also working on the same subject, which is named as ‘Battle of Saragarhi’. This film is being directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and the first look of it was released last year.

While talking about the film, Hooda had said, “There have been a lot of ups and downs. But that’s a part of filmmaking. The theme of the film is ‘Soora so pahchaniye, je lade deen ke het, Purja-purja kat mare, kabhu na chhade khet’ (Only he is brave who fights for the cause of the poor. He may be cut into pieces and may be killed, but he should not leave the field).” Randeep Hooda will be seen playing the role of Havildar Ishar Singh in the film.

Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 to hit screens in April 2018

All the Rajinikanth fans have to wait a bit longer to see their star on-screen as the makers have decided to postpone the release of the film once again. The film was expected to release earlier in December this year but was later shifted to January 26 because of some post-production work. The makers, however, have changed the release date of the film once again and it will hit screens now in April 2018.

The trade analyst Taran Adarsh also tweeted about the release date and his tweet said that the film will release on April 27 but the official statement from the producers did not mention any date. “#2Point0 to release on 27 April 2018… Stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar… Directed by Shankar,” he tweeted. Adarsh also indicated that film could repeat the history of success just like Baahubali 2 this year. The Lyca Production issued an official statement on the release of the film, which reads that “Lyca Productions – Superstar Rajinikanth – Akshay Kumar – Shankar magnum opus SciFi action thriller 2.0 to be screened worldwide on April 2018. Nation’s costliest 3D film starring Superstar Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, directed by Shankar, music by AR Rahman. The high-tech post-production works are fully geared and the team is all set for the release schedule”.

The decision of shifting the release date of 2.0 comes after Akshay Kumar announced the release date of Padman on next year’s Republic day. Kumar had recently revealed his fans that his film will hit screens on January 26, 2018, which had also become a question for all that would be Akshay Kuman vs Akshay Kumar at the box office in the Republic day weekend. The big clash has been averted. Akshay has said on the clash in an interview to Mumbai Mirror that “While PadMan is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belong to Shankar, Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions. They will decide whether they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do, I will postpone Padman and if they don’t, I will go ahead”.

'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' Leaked, Akshay Kumar Urges his Fans to 'Say No To Piracy'

Akshay Kumar and Bhoomi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has become the victim of Piracy. Film Piracy is nothing new in Bollywood; there are many other films that have also faced the problem of Piracy before their release.  Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has leaked online and the star himself turns to twitter to announce this unfortunate incident. Along with announcing the news of film piracy on twitter, he also urges audience to say no to piracy and said that it is just the matter of couple of weeks and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will be out in the theaters so people are insisted on to wait for few more days when they’ve waited for so many.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha

Here is the whole statement that Akshay Kumar wrote on his twitter handle:

“The fight against piracy is critical and it’s reassuring to see the swift action taken by the Crime Branch on the unfortunate incident involving our film Toilet – Ek Prem Katha. I would like to urge my friends, colleagues, fans and audiences to please say no to piracy. Thank you all for your support.”

If reports are to be believed then Dance Choreographer Remo D’Souza was the first person who came to know about the film leak. He was the first one to watch the leaked movie online and he immediately informed the directors about the piracy. In an interaction with Indian Express he also revealed that, he met someone who said that he has the entire movie in the pen drive

Before this film, film like Manjhi and Udtta Punjab has also met the same fate and which affected the films business drastically.

Toilet: EK Prem Katha, Comedy and Tragedy Blended Together

Trailer of Akhshay’s more awaited movie ‘ Toilet Ek Prem Katha’, released on Sunday evening. ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ starring Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and Bhumi Pednekar is coming with a very strong message for the society. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, ‘ Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ will paint the picture of PM Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. This movie is a satarical comdey film.

People are loving everything about the trailer of the movie. Trailer of the movie is enough to give the glimpses of comedy, fun and tragedy. The trailer of the movie openly talks about the condition of women in a country. The country, where women are given a place of the Goddess, fails to maintain the privacy of the women as they have to go out and defecate in open. The film is much more than just a fictitious story, it is the struggle of everyday life of women which remains unnoticed by us.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a story about a couple Keshav (Akshay Kumar) and Jaya(Bhumi) who struggles to make toilet in their village. In this film, Keshav in the starting of the movie doesn’t realize the importance of having a toilet in the village but after his marriage to Jaya, Jaya leaves him for not having a toilet in the house and the village, the actor then realize the importance of having a toilet in the house.  Soon his struggle to get back his wife begins but there is another hindrance — a society that may consider women their ‘izzat’ but refuses to give respect to them. Ironically, Tulsi, the goddess, is the reason cited for not having a toilet at home and forcing women of the house to defecate in open.

In the trailer, we hear women saying to Bhumi, “Chalo sava chaar hogaye hai, sab intezaar kar rahe hai lota party mein tumhara welcome ka.” When she can’t bring herself to go in the open, she is made fun of. The women say, “Sasuraal mein khaane ko na de rahe? Saari laaj sharam chodhkar lag jao kaam pe.”  Being a frustrated husband, Akshay asks his fellow village men if banishing a toilet more important than a woman’s privacy.

Dialogues, written by Siddharth-Garima, are perfect reflection of the mentality that needs to be challenged. As Anupam Kher says in the trailer – “if you change nothing, nothing will change.”

Finally, the trailer comes to an end on a disappointing note where the actor can be heard saying, “Aashiqo ne Aashiqui ke liye Taj Mahal bana diya, hum ek sandas na bana sake,” which left the audience with the question, whether the couple get success in their struggle of making a toilet in their village.

The trailer has so far received over 5 million views and counting. It seems like trailer of the film is receving immense love from the audience and critics. Even the bollywood celebrities are praising the trailer alot. Actor Anil Kapoor posted about  the film’s subject. “Voicing an important issue in a heartwarming & eye opening way! Kudos,” wrote Anil Kapoor, Akshay’s co-star of films like Tashan, Welcome and Bewafaa. ohn Abraham, who has worked with Akshay in Garam Masala and Desi Boyz, was the first celeb to tweet about the film. “Here’s wishing all the best to my co-producers of #Parmanu @kriarj & my friend @akshaykumar on their new venture!!”

A few days ago, the National-Award winning actor met PM Modi and shared the theme and title of his movie, which reportedly made the PM smile.

The movie is said to be released on 11 august.

Shahrukh-Anushka Film 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' Finally Has a Name, Averts Clash With Akshay’s Toilet

After months of speculation about the name of Srk-Imtiaz’s film, Shahrukh Khan finally confirmed the name of his next with Anushka as ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. Isn’t this really interesting and a cool name? Last year, Salman Khan tweeted the released date of Srk-Imtiaz’s film and said to his followers that he has decided the date (11 Aug 2017) and you decide the name. Later, Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was also scheduled to release on 11 August 2017, clashing with Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal. The posters of Srk’s film were released on the social media last night, ditching all the speculated names like ‘Raula’, ‘The Ring’ and ‘Rehnuma’, and confirming ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ as the title of the film.

Related: Salman’s Tubelight Releaseing On This Date

The title of Srk’s film also reminiscent of Imtiaz’s blockbuster film ‘Jab We Met’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. On the other hand, it also reminds us of the iconic American rom-com film starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan ‘When Harry Met Sally’. We just hope that Srk’s film with Anushka would not be inspired from any of the films made before. Shahrukh Khan tweeted, “Just in case Ranbir Kapoor ever claims it…the title Jab Harry met Sejal was never ever suggested by him! So he doesn’t win the Rs.5000 reward.” It looks like that Khan was talking about the reward of Rs 5000 announced by the film’s team for anyone who would come up with a suitable title for the film. In the meantime, Anushka Sharma tweeted the first poster of the film by posting ‘What you seek’ and the Khan tweeted another poster by tweeting ‘Is seeking you’.

Akshay and Shahrukh

Imtiaz Ali is quite famous for bringing the freshness and new style of romance through his movies in regular Hindi movies, and we are hoping the same from him for this movie as well. The first two posters of the film show us some kind of vibrant looks of both the characters. There is no doubt in that ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Talking about the release of the film, now Srk’s film with Anushka will release hit screens on August 4, a week before the release of Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. We are 100% sure that now fans of Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar must be breathing a sigh of relief. Whenever two big movies of two big stars on the box office, it creates a definite tension in the industry and also impacts the box office as it gets divided.

What also excites us is the tagline of Rumi’s is being used for every poster of the film, “What you seek is seeking you”. We hope this film must be having some great connection with the story as well. In an interview to Pinkvilla, Imtiaz Ali talked about why he used the quote of Rumi and said that “Although I thought I will not be using any quotation from Rumi anymore, in my movie, then I can’t help it because it is so appropriate that everything I am trying to say in this movie is really what you seek is seeking you. It is a dialogue in the film you will be surprised when you see it. So it is bang on”. The most of the shooting of the film is done in some of the most beautiful cities of Europe like Prague and Amsterdam. According to the reports, Shahrukh Khan must be seen playing a womanizer in the film and it will definitely be interesting to see the superstar in a territory in romance that he hasn’t explored yet.

Shahrukh’s Smart Move

Let us tell you that the makers of the Jab Harry Met Sejal have done a smart job of shifting the release of their film from 11 August 2017 to 4 August 2017, averting the unnecessary clash with Akshay Kumar’s Toliet: Ek Prem Katha. The Srk-Anushka starrer will now release on 4th August and it will enjoy a long weekend of four days. Alongside with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the film also enjoys Monday (August 7) in the form of holiday for famous Indian festival Raksha Bandhan. So in the second weekend as well, Srk’s film could give a heavy competition to Akshay’s film if it would be a good content movie. If we go commercially, it is unarguably a great decision for the makers of the Jab Harry Met Sejal to come on August 4 than unnecessarily clashing with Akshay’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha on August 11. It is expected that the trailer of Srk-Anushka starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal is going to be attached with the Salman Khan’s Tublight releasing on 25 June in which Shahrukh Khan is also doing a cameo.
