The China said that the sikkim area in which Indian army raised objection is undoubtedly located on its border side as per the 1890 Sino British Treaty and has also explained the construction of a road is in the Sikkim area. According to the treaty the ancient name of Sikkim is “zhe”. Lu Kang, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement.
According to treaty, the Indian Army has raised objection on the area which is undoubtedly located on the Chinese side of the border, yesterday he said.
After one day the statement came that the Chinese military accused the Indian Army of stopping the construction of the road in what it claims to be China’s “sovereign territory” in the Sikkim area in the India China border. Lu said, the Sikkim sector of India China border was recognised by both the countries.
He added, ” Both the sides has signed the Compliance with these treaties and the documents that is not to be shirked by the Indian side is a matter of international obligation. “On Monday night, Chinese foreign ministry statement said, ” Military present on Indian border has crossed the boundary in the Sikkim section of the Indo China border and entered into territory of China and obstructed normal activities of the Chinese in the Dongling area and the Chinese side has recently taken counter measures over it.”
Earlier, Lu said,” China has lodged a diplomatic protest with India accusing Indian troops about crossing the boundary in the Sikkim section and demanded their withdrawal as soon as possible.” Liu Kang has asserted that China shut the entry of the “Nathu La pass” for Indian pilgrims who are travelling to Kailash Mansarovar because of the border disputes.
An article posted on the state run Global website Times said,” Provocation of Indian cops brings disgrace to themselves and they should be forced to retreat them by all necessary means.”
It said,” The Indian government made no objection to the Sikkim section of the Indo China border. Often the Allegations of intrusions along the western section of the Indo China border emerge, but this sikkim faceoffs are rare. Later in 2006, Sikkim’s Nathu La pass was reopened because at that time there was no border dispute between China and India on this area.”
It said, ” It is still unclear that whether this flare up is the fault of low level Indian troops or this a tentative strategic move made by the Indian government.”
“China must stick to its bottom line, Whatever the motive is. It must force the Indian military to retreat Indian side by all means necessary and it must not stop China’s road construction,” the article said.
As the line of demarcation between India and China has not been completely demarcated and the both countries have a different understanding about the Line of Actual Control and the troops from both sides often stray across in some areas. However, all frictions are fed to the Indian media by the Indian military which they hype time and again.
According to the article, China often used to avoid the issue related to the border disputes which has gratified India’s unruly provocations and this time the Indian side needs to be taught the rules.” The article added that China has no desire to confront India and India can’t afford a showdown with China on border issues because India lags far behind China in terms of national strength and the strategic power for it.
The statement said,” Beijing’s basic policy is to Maintain friendly ties with New Delhi. But this is based on mutual respect from both the countries. It is not the right time for India to display arrogance toward China.”
